Job summary

Decypher at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, seeks a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) to provide professional nursing care for adult and geriatric patients at the Family Health Clinic.

Onsite, Monday–Friday, 7:00am–4:00pm, holidays off. Compensation up to $28.50 + health & welfare benefits. U.S. citizenship required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a nursing program accredited by CNEA.
• Current full, active, and unrestricted LPN license.
• BLS certification (ARC or AHA).
• At least 12 months of hands-on adult outpatient care within 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Telehealth nursing via telephone and secure messaging to coordinate care.
• Initiate and complete assigned duties providing care to diverse patient populations.
• Prepare and administer medications and assist with procedures according to policies.
• Identify, report, and respond to urgent or emergent patient care needs.
• Assist in diagnostic tests and monitor patient condition during procedures.
• Orient peers and staff to unit policies and standards of practice.

Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) provides professional nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, applying nursing principles to assess, prepare, and assist with treatments and procedures in accordance with established clinical guidelines. This position is at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio at the Family Health Clinic.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, university, or vocational nursing program accredited by the Commission on Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA).


• Certifications:
  
  
  
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).
  
  
  
  


• License: Current full, active, and unrestricted LPN license as a practical or vocational nurse .


• Experience: LPN performing hands-on patient care in an Adult primary care outpatient setting for at least 12 months within 24 months.

U.S. Citizenship is required

Key Responsibilities

• Telehealth nursing is an important part of the nursing services performed at the Medical Center. Telephone messages and secure messaging via internet are two forms of communication tools that help staff and patients coordinate care. Using these communication tools daily is one of the duties.


• Initiate, perform, and complete assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations.


• Complete assigned patient care based on the patients conditions, use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, and accurately recognize, report, and record relevant patient information.


• Observe, identify, and respond to the patients needs for care, including medication, equipment assisted care, and patient/family education.


• Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures.


• Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.


• Perform support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing, and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patients condition before, during, and following the procedure.


• Orient peers and ancillary personnel to unit policies and procedures, skills, and standards of practice.

Work Environment & Schedule:

Onsite, Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm. Holidays off.

Compensation & Benefits:

Up to $28.50 + H&W

Physical requirements:

May be required to lift 2545 pounds independently, with the ability to lift greater weights (up to 75100+ pounds) with assistance or mechanical lifting devices.
