Job summary

UMass Memorial Health Leominster is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide patient care under supervision. The role supports the Nursing Director and coordinates care across shifts in a 40-hour schedule.

Eligible candidates may receive a $5,000 signing bonus; final offer varies with hours, experience and internal equity. Weekend schedules are not required for this position.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required by Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (BORN) with current eligibility.
• BLS/Healthcare provider certification required at hire or during orientation.

Are you a current UMass Memorial Health caregiver? Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Hiring Range: $25.00 - $37.50 (based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week). Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

The staff Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under the supervision of the Nurse Director or designee, is responsible for the nursing care of assigned patients, and to prescribe, delegate and coordinate the patient care administered by staff. Included in such responsibility is the goal of assisting patients to move as rapidly, uneventfully and safely through their hospitalization period.

$5,000.00 Sign-on Bonus

I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Uses Nursing process to assess and plan care.
2. Effectively performs Nursing tasks utilizing policy and procedure.
3. Functions effectively in all urgent and emergent situations.
4. Delegates effectively.
5. Coordinates exchange of information between staff, physicians and administration.
6. Manages the dynamics of changing flow and acuity of the unit.
7. Utilizes the correct format for all documentation.
8. Reports significant patient information in a timely manner.
9. Uses effective communication techniques based on the level of understanding.
10. Assists in monitoring activities related to improvement initiatives.
11. Devises/supports new techniques and procedures to improve efficiency and quality of patient care, utilizing lean theory/ processes.
12. Participates in a hospital council/committee.
13. Pursues opportunities to participate in new learning experiences, ie: Clinical ladders, clinical certification not required for the position.
14. Promotes cooperation and understanding and acts as a teacher and role model.

II. Position Qualifications:

1. License/Certification/Education: Required: 1. Graduation and training from an accredited school of nursing with current license by the Massachusetts B.O.R.N. American Heart Association or equivalent B.L.S. certification for health care provider required upon hire or during orientation.
2. Experience/Skills: Preferred: 1. A minimum of one year of general medical-surgical experience is preferred. Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm No weekends or Holidays.
