Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to join our dermatology team. The role involves assessing patient health, administering medications, venipuncture, injections, and assisting with care plans, all while ensuring safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Massachusetts licensure required for practical nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' basic health status and collect related data per standard procedures.
• Administer medications and perform treatments as ordered.
• Perform venipuncture, 12-lead EKGs, and vaccinations as needed.
• Assist in developing and evaluating care plans with short- and long-term goals.
• Document care accurately and report changes to healthcare providers.
• Assist providers with treatments, procedures, and tests as required.
• Communicate with patients via in-person, phone, or electronic means.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Maintain a safe patient care environment.

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Hiring Range: $28.14 - $41.12 (based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week). Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. We are offering a $7,500 Sign-on bonus for New Caregivers.

Major Responsibilities

1. Assesses and obtain a patients basic health status, records, and related data according to standard procedure and needs of patient and their families.
2. Administers medications, performs treatment as ordered, and operates equipment according to policy and procedure.
3. Performs venipuncture using aseptic technique, 12 lead EKGs, and administers vaccinations.
4. Participates in implementation and evaluation of care plan including long and short-term goals, nursing actions, and teaching.
5. Documents patient care according to standard procedure. Records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient condition to Provider and/or RN and assists in analyzing and interpreting patient data.
6. Assists provider with treatments, procedures, and special tests as required or directed.
7. Communicates with patients via electronic, telephonic, and in person, per scope of practice.
8. Collaborates with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
9. Maintains a safe environment.

License/Certification/Education: Required

1. Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
2. Current Massachusetts licensure required.
3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience/Skills: Required

1. Knowledge of basic nursing procedures.
2. Strong interpersonal skills are required to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.
