Job summary

TALENT Software Services is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our geriatric care team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care, administer medications, oversee other LPNs and CNAs, and coordinate with physicians and families to implement care plans.

Shifts are 12 hours from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm, including weekends, with a rotating schedule of 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next.

Qualifications

• LPN license in good standing with CPR/BLS certification.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive geriatric nursing care, treatment, and services in a professional manner. This role involves overseeing and training subordinate staff in specific resident care, observing and reporting resident behavior and physical condition, and administering medical treatment according to the plan of care. The LPN will act as a lead with limited supervision on assignments and may oversee the functions of other LPNs and Certified Nursing Assistants.

Schedule

The position requires candidates to work 12-hour shifts from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm, including weekends. The schedule alternates between 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next week.

Position Skills

• Administer medication and perform treatments as ordered by the physician, within the scope of the license.
• Ensure an adequate amount of supplies and medication are available.
• Receive and deliver information regarding residents' medical, social, functional, and other needs.
• Participate in the receiving and giving of shift reports.
• Communicate with residents, family, and staff to ensure appropriate care from the interdisciplinary team.
• Complete the initial admission nursing assessment for newly admitted residents.
• Supervise subordinate staff and assist with direct resident care for Activities of Daily Living (ADL's).
• Conduct and participate in in-service training and staff development programs.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings.
• Collect and analyze data for quality improvement and infection control programs.
• Train new employees.
• Perform other technical duties as assigned, such as collecting specimens and responding to emergency situations.
• Apply gerontological/geriatric nursing theory and practice.
• Understand resident condition and changing medical/physical/psychological care needs.
• Implement treatment plans and understand pharmacology and medicines.
• Comply with Federal, State, and agency laws, rules, and regulations governing nursing practices.
