Job summary

Abraxas Youth & Family Services in Ohio is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide routine medical services to residents and support health education within our care settings. Paid training provided.

We offer comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth while serving at-risk youth and families. The role requires coordination with external providers and on-call availability to ensure continuous care.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse, licensed in Ohio.
  • Familiarity with pharmacological aspects of drug abuse. Emergency medical aid experience.
  • Licensed to dispense medications.
  • Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Valid unrestricted driver's license.
  • Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks; including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
  • Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

  • Provides routine medical services to residents.
  • Dispenses physician prescribed and non-prescription medication as needed.
  • Responds to medical emergencies.
  • Assists in the treatment of residents under the direction of the Nurse Manager and/or a physician (may take direct orders from the physician under the supervisions of the Nurse Manager).
  • Promotes good health habits, hygiene and nutrition with the residents.
  • Participates in clinical activities as needed.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to the physician and/or other medical agencies/practitioners as needed.
  • Coordinates with external agencies and contract providers to ensure appropriate medical and dental care.
  • Available/on call 24/7, either on-site or via phone or virtual technology.

What You'll Do

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Provides routine medical services to residents
