Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse at Wilce Student Health Center to join our multi-disciplinary patient care team. You will perform basic nursing duties, collect vitals, document in the electronic health record, and support providers with procedures.

Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with a 40-hour schedule. Candidates must have an approved LPN program, Ohio license or ability to obtain, BLS-HCW certification, IV certification, and experience with ambulatory

Qualifications

• Graduated from an approved school of practical nursing and licensed or able to obtain Ohio LPN license.
• American Heart Association BLS-HCW certification or able to obtain prior to start date.
• IV certification and experience; familiarity with electronic health information systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary and ambulatory nursing care to students.
• Obtain patient reason for visit, vitals, and clinical information.
• Assist providers with procedures and administer injections/medications.
• Document all information in the electronic health record.
• Work hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Student Health Services a department of the Office of Student Life, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works with a multi-disciplinary team of physicians and other health care professionals to provide primary care, ambulatory care, and clinical services to students at The Ohio State University. The LPN serves as one of the primary initial contacts with clinical services; by providing patient care, obtaining patient reason for visit, vital signs, and other clinical information; assists providers with procedures; administers injections and other medication, carries out clinical orders, Intravenous fluids (IV) and documents all information in the electronic health record. Work hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Qualifications:

Required: Graduated from an approved school of practical nursing; current Ohio LPN-Pharmacology license or ability to obtain prior to start date; American Heart Association Basic Life Support - Health Care Worker certification or able to obtain prior to start date; IV Certification and experience; experience with electronic health information management systems. Successful completion of background check and health screening.

Desired: 2 years’ work experience in an ambulatory care setting; experience working with an adolescent age population; working knowledge of communicable disease and control.

Additional Information:

Targeted hiring range is $22.36 to $27.88/hr. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the selected candidate’s qualifications.

Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen and background check.
