Job summary

Westport Community Schools is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for Westport High School in Westport, MA. This 10-month, full-time role aligns with the student calendar and includes direct nursing care for students with disabilities, including seizure management and G-tube care.

The nurse will work under RN supervision, support accommodations for medical plans, and assist with daily living activities to foster a safe educational environment. Immediate start preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have LPN license for Massachusetts.
• Experience working with children with severe disabilities, including no or limited verbal communication, preferred.
• Experience with seizures, Gtube and aspiration procedures.
• Current CPR certification.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor seizures and provide nursing care in Special Education classrooms.
• Administer medications via G-tube and other routes as required.
• Support health needs including nutrition, hydration, mobility, elimination, comfort and hygiene.
• Follow the medical care plan for students with health needs.
• Assist with activities of daily living, toileting and lifting as needed.
• Perform aspiration procedures if required and as directed.
• Carry out duties of paraprofessional as directed by teacher.

Job Description

10 month school year position - same schedule as students at Westport Community Schools.

1:1 LPN

Inclusion

Nurse to attend to medical needs in Special Education classroom including monitoring of seizures, Gtube feedings, and administration of medication via Gtube and/or other routes.
Assist with health needs of including but not limited to nutrition, hydration, mobility, elimination, comfort, rest and hygiene, and educational needs.

Assists with activities of daily living, toileting and lifting.
Experience with performing aspiration procedures.
Also to perform duties of paraprofessional at teacher's instruction
Recent experience providing medication as needed for a seizure disorder.
Experience working with children with severe disabilities, including no or limited verbal communication, preferred.
May support other students as needed.

Nursing duties under the supervision of the RN.

Salary: $33,263 to $41,391 Per Year
