The Licensed Practical Nurse provides licensed nursing care to patients in an ambulatory, clinic, or other care delivery setting under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. Collects clinical information, administers medications and treatments, supports examinations and procedures, provides patient education, and documents care according to established nursing protocols and scope-of-practice requirements. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) delivers patient care within established protocols under close supervision by more senior clinical staff, escalating anything that falls outside defined parameters. Decisions follow established clinical guidelines and are reviewed routinely.
