Job summary

Hickory Treatment Centers is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Albion, IN to provide direct patient care under supervision within a psychiatric hospital setting. The LPN will administer medications, monitor vital signs, and help maintain a safe and supportive treatment environment.

Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, the LPN will perform comprehensive physical health assessments on intakes and plan care with physician orders, medications, education, and treatments.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program with current, active LPN license.
• At least 2 years prior experience as an LPN preferably with hospital and behavioral health experience.
• Certified BLS provider obtained within 1 month prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to psychiatric patients, including monitoring physical and mental health status.
• Observe patients closely for changes in behavior, mood, or physical condition and report findings to the RN and physician.
• Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans developed by the clinical team.
• Participate in therapeutic interactions and support patient treatment goals.
• Administer prescribed medications and accurately document administration in accordance with hospital policies.
• Follow nursing best practices and established clinical procedures.
• Accurately document all patient care activities, observations, and interventions.
• Perform routine safety checks and patient rounds, including monitoring suicide and elopement precautions.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to psychiatric and medical emergencies.
• Utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when responding to patients in distress.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Participate in shift reports, treatment team meetings, and interdisciplinary discussions.
• Communicate patient status and clinical concerns to the appropriate members of the treatment team.
• Provide updates to patients and families while respecting confidentiality and patient rights.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to support continuity of care.
• Ensure accurate communication and documentation throughout transitions in care.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation.
• Follow hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations related to psychiatric care.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, infection control standards, and nursing best practices.
• Protect patient confidentiality and uphold patient rights throughout the delivery of care.

About the Role:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurses (RNs) and the physicians in a psychiatric hospital setting. The LPN supports patients with mental health needs by administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a safe and supportive treatment environment.

Under the immediate supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, the LPN will provide medical care for patients will perform comprehensive physical health assessments on all intakes and formulate a plan of care that includes physician orders, medications, education, and treatments

Job Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program with current, active LPN license

Key Responsibilities:
