Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Plumbing Supervisor, responsible for operation and maintenance of all Acid Waste systems, closed water loop treatment, and coordination of associated vendors. Also responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and testing piping systems, including but not limited to water, fire protection, sewerage, and medical gases.

May require working weekends or rotating shifts and carrying the on-call pager.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for water, sanitary, sewerage, and medical systems and their auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, testing, and repairs on acid waste and closed loop chemical systems.
  • Sample, test, and report violations per MWRA compliance; must be an approved sampler by MWRA.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, daily work sheets, including pH readings.
  • Respond to violations and sampling protocols established through MWRA guidelines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and piping diagrams.
  • Conduct system surveys and prepare material lists, order, and maintain inventory.
  • Participate in planning activities and develop solutions to specific problems.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and proper PPE.
  • Respond to calls from hospital areas as assigned.
  • Coordinate with vendors and maintain testing records.
  • Respond to emergency plumbing situations and ensure compliance with plumbing codes.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma preferred.

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

Licenses and Credentials: Master Plumber [State License] - required

Experience: Formal technical plumbing training beyond high school required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and physical abilities; knowledge of plumbing supplies, blueprints, and independent work capability.
