You will read blueprints, work with facilities staff and contractors, and participate in an on-call rotation, with varied shifts and a strong emphasis on preventing interruptions to patient care.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Plumber with current license and valid driver's license.
  • 3+ years of related plumbing experience, hospital/healthcare or similar facility experience preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics; knowledge of plumbing, building, fire, and safety codes.
  • Experience with medical gas, RO/de-ionized water, steam, hydronic, chilled water, sprinkler or fire protection systems.
  • Preventive maintenance mindset with proactive equipment care.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills in fast-paced environments.
  • Commitment to safety, quality and compliance in a healthcare setting.
  • Professional, team-oriented communication with facilities staff and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Keep hospital plumbing systems safe, reliable, and operational by installing, repairing, and maintaining water, sewer, drainage, heating, cooling, and mechanical systems.
  • Protect patients, staff, and visitors by prioritizing safety and infection prevention.
  • Apply expertise to mission-critical systems including medical gas, RO/de-ionized water, steam, hydronic, and fire protection.
  • Troubleshoot complex plumbing and mechanical issues; minimize disruption to patient care and operations.
  • Read blueprints/schematics and ensure code adherence.
  • Work independently, manage priorities, and complete repairs with minimal supervision in a hospital setting.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff, contractors, and clinical teams to resolve issues and support operations.
  • Document work and support preventive maintenance; share knowledge and lead when needed.
