Job description

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the registered physical therapist, administers therapeutic modalities using specialized equipment; instructs patients and supervises therapeutic exercises, functional activities, and fits orthopedic appliances.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care: Instruct patients on health and self-care procedures, review physician orders, instruct on home equipment, apply orthopedic appliances, dressings, and follow infection control protocols. Initiate emergency procedures, monitor vital signs, observe reactions during and after treatments, assist with ambulation and exercises, conduct group classes, evaluate responses, and document patient data.
2. Equipment and Instruments: Prepare and maintain equipment and treatment rooms, perform routine maintenance, and ensure availability and cleanliness of instruments and supplies.
3. Materials and Supplies: Manage inventory, order supplies, and dispose of expendables.
4. Administrative Tasks: Participate in training, maintain licensure, answer calls, coordinate activities, and serve as a resource for staff and students.
5. Patient Procedures and Activities: Explain procedures, assemble educational materials, assist providers, and monitor patient condition during procedures.
6. Other Activities: Perform additional duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
