Overview

General Function

The Licensed Optician attracts and retains customers by delivering an exceptional customer experience, fostering customer retention, and promoting associate/doctor satisfaction.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Drive profitable store sales by fostering a retail selling culture, practicing NECE, and using effective retail sales skills.
  2. Develop professional relationships with other Associates and Doctors.
  3. Fill ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions, fit and adapt lenses and frames, including:
    1. Evaluating prescriptions in conjunction with customer’s visual needs;
    2. Asking lifestyle questions to determine vision needs;
    3. Recommending lenses, coatings, and frames;
    4. Assisting customers in frame selection and coordinating with measurements and prescriptions;
    5. Conducting measurements using appropriate tools;
    6. Troubleshooting vision issues and resolving them;
    7. Training new associates on frame and lens selection.
  4. Ensure store merchandising aligns with Planogram and standards.
  5. Maintain high quality through accurate measurements, correct pricing, POS entry, and realistic delivery times.
  6. Maximize Managed Vision Care relationships and sales opportunities.
  7. Implement marketing programs effectively, including signage and promotions.
Basic (Required) Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • State licensure or certification by a recognized opticianary association
  • Experience in retail or customer service
  • Strong sales skills and accountability for results
  • Ability to develop creative solutions and communicate enthusiastically
  • Attention to detail in merchandising and measurements
  • Ability to manage priorities, take calculated risks, and follow-up
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in retail operations
  • Over 3 years of experience
  • Experience with personal computers
