Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club seeks a licensed optician to dispense spectacles and other optical products for adults and children, following prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists.

The role emphasizes accurate Rx handling, patient education on lens options, and delivering friendly member service. The position requires HIPAA compliance and a professional, customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to work as an optician in the state and keep license up to date.
• Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred.
• High school diploma, college degree, and/or optical/retail experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Open shift availability for full-time positions.
• At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Verify Rx data and file orders accurately in the system.
• Provide service in person and by phone; explain exam fees clearly.
• Take measurements, select frames, read prescriptions with the lensometer, and manage payments.
• Educate patients on product benefits to meet sales goals.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and assist with eyeglass adjustments.
• Assist Optical Manager with opening/closing procedures and funds handling.
