Job summary

VisionWorks in Commack, NY seeks a Part-Time Optical Assistant to help customers select frames and lenses, fit and dispense, and interpret prescriptions. You will use the SERVE sales process to identify needs and recommend products.

Weekend availability and a customer-focused approach are a plus. You will provide accurate product and insurance information, work with the lab and optometrist for prescription accuracy, and maintain a clean, compliant dispensing area while supporting HIPAA

Qualifications

• State licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
• Explain optical products and interpretation of prescriptions.
• Read and understand simple instructions and memos.
• Write simple correspondence and present information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in frame and lens selection while maintaining social distance.
• Provide accurate product, service, and insurance information.
• Inform customers about benefits and any charges not covered by insurance.
• Use the SERVE sales process to identify needs and recommend lenses.
• Communicate with the Lab and Optometrist to ensure prescription accuracy.
• Sell, fit and dispense frames with measurements and adjustments.
• Maintain a clean, orderly dispensing area and accurate pricing.
