Job Description

The Licensed Optician assists patients in selecting frames and lenses, ensures lab technicians have accurate measurements, and dispenses finished glasses.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, and payment policies.
• Process payment transactions and refunds via the in-house Point of Sale system.
• Perform miscellaneous administrative tasks.
• Process insurance claims.
• Keep up-to-date product knowledge.
• Create and maintain patient files per company and HIPAA policies.
• Input customer information into the computer system.
• Assess and interpret patient needs, recommend appropriate products, and take necessary measurements.
• Prepare work orders for the lab with full patient and prescription details.
• Pull correct lenses according to work orders.
• Inspect final product for accuracy, adjusting glasses as needed.
• Educate patients on glasses care.
• Adjust, repair, and replace frames and components.
• Price, stock, and straighten merchandise.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in the optical industry and a current state license.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift.
• Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist as needed.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs.
