Summary of this Position:

As a Licensed Optical Stylist at QUAY, you play a key role in connecting customers to the Brand through consistently modeling QUAY selling and service behaviors, demonstrating optical expertise, and championing optical education within your shop location. Licensed Optical Stylists are responsible for consistently achieving sales and productivity goals through creating brand-enhancing customer experiences and demonstrating expert product knowledge. This is an hourly, non-exempt role.

Principal Accountabilities:
Sales & Service
  • Consistently achieve sales goals through creating a brand-enhancing shopping experience for all customers by providing outstanding service.
  • Utilize product knowledge and styling training to demonstrate expert styling behaviors and identify and meet customer need across all of QUAY’s product categories.
  • Conduct fitting, adjustment, optical measurements, and repair services on eyewear.
  • Contribute to the store’s overall visual presentation and merchandising.
  • Maintain the entire store’s cleanliness and organization.
  • Perform tasks as assigned by management with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Follow all loss prevention and safety protocols to minimize loss.
  • Stay up-to-date and adhere to all company policies and procedures including Quay’s Code of Conduct.
Optical Expertise
  • Assist customers in frame and lens selection based on their vision needs, prescription, frame fit, personal style and lifestyle.
  • Effectively explain optical terminology, product features, and benefits to customers using product knowledge and technical expertise.
  • Accurately conduct optical measurements using appropriate tools and instruments.
  • Inspect that finished eyewear meets quality standards and customer expectations, including troubleshooting and addressing customer concerns.
  • Collaborate with Shop Manager and shop team to develop best practices for selling, service, and operations related to optical as the subject matter expert.
  • Foster a learning environment in partnership with the Shop Manager that contributes to expanding the entire team’s optical knowledge.
  • Provides professional-level optical services to all QUAY customers that meets State law requirements.

This role is required to maintain strong working relationships with the entire Shop team and is expected to positively contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Required Skills & Experience
  • ABO-certification (and state optician licensure in states requiring a license); valid, unexpired certification must be provided as a condition of hire and continued employment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of retail sales experience within a specialty, fashion, or customer-centric environment.
  • Optical dispensing experience and knowledge of current optical theory and practices.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Travel Requirements: 0% travel

Physical Requirements
  • This position is based in a retail shop environment. Requires standing and walking up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays according to business needs for an average of 40 hours per week.
  • Requires stooping and kneeling to process and place merchandise as well as reaching and pulling to obtain or stock merchandise from storage
  • May be required to climb ladder or stepstool to stock and/or acquire merchandise for sale.
  • Required to lift items weighing up to 25lbs regularly, with occasional lifting of heavier weight boxes or fixtures.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions (with or without an accommodation) without posing a "direct threat" to the health and safety to self or others.
