Job summary

Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York seeks a Licensed Operations Mechanic to stand watch and operate building central systems, including boilers, chillers, pumps, and controls. Under minimal supervision, you will start up, monitor, and maintain equipment across campus.

You will isolate systems for repairs, perform maintenance in mechanical rooms, log readings, respond to emergencies, and ensure safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Stand competent watches; i.e. inside, outside and boiler plant.
• Start up, operate and maintain central building systems and related equipment (boilers, chillers, pumps, VFDs, etc.).
• Isolate systems for repair and replace components (filters, strainers, valves, floats, lube oil); clean cooling towers and fan coils.
• Isolate electrical systems, check fuses and control circuits.
• Troubleshoot issues and complete work orders.
• Perform upkeep of mechanical rooms as needed.
• Monitor, operate and adjust building management and alarm systems.
• Test and treat boiler chemicals for high/low pressure boilers.
• Take air flow readings and air change calculations.
• Respond to emergency situations on site.
• Record meter readings and complete required log books.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
