Job description

Job Purpose

Directs the day-to-day functions of the nursing center in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care centers, and as directed by the Area Vice President, to provide appropriate care for patients/residents.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintain current knowledge of state and federal laws governing nursing facility operations.
2. Understand licensing, payment programs, business practices, nursing practice, resident care psychology, personal care, social services, long-term care services, and environmental health and safety regulations relevant to nursing facilities.
3. Formulate operational strategies to meet facility objectives within budgets and timeframes.
4. Receive practical training in nursing facility operations, departmental management, and community resource coordination. Represent the facility to community groups, advocacy organizations, government agencies, and the public.
5. Apply professional standards to ensure quality care and establish criteria for service standards.
6. Demonstrate competency in financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
7. Develop and implement administrative policies aligning with the center’s philosophy and legal requirements.
8. Respect and uphold resident rights, dignity, and individuality; act as a role model for staff.
9. Follow written and verbal directions effectively; communicate clearly in oral and written forms.
10. Communicate effectively with staff, professionals, residents, and agencies in an interdisciplinary setting.
11. Perform all duties consistent with the center’s mission and philosophy.
12. Maintain confidentiality of patient/resident information and center data.
13. Demonstrate honesty and integrity in all interactions and use of property.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or related fields.

Minimum Experience Required

At least two (2) years of supervisory experience in a hospital or long-term care nursing center, with knowledge of relevant operational standards and regulations.

Minimum Licensure/Certification

Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the state of the facility.

Additional Qualifications

Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.
