Under the supervision of the Administrator or Designee, the Licensed Mental Health Professional provides clinical oversight in the Enhanced Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (E-STRTP), a 24-hour, short-term (typically 10 to 30 days) intensive residential treatment program serving youth ages 10 through 17 experiencing a mental health or behavioral health crisis who require more support than a family-based setting can provide but who do not meet criteria for inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. The Licensed Mental Health Professional meets directly with youth, oversees staff responsible for treatment, transition, and discharge planning, and ensures compliance with CDSS Community Care Licensing STRTP Interim Licensing Standards, DHCS mental health program requirements, and established policies and procedures, including timely completion of reporting requirements. The Licensed Mental Health Professional helps in the supervision of program staff by providing therapeutic guidance and assists the Clinical Director in coordinating and implementing the core program.
Crestwood San Luis Obispo's new Enhanced Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (E-STRTP) will provide specialized, intensive behavioral health services and 24-hour support for youth experiencing a mental health crisis. This four-bed program will primarily serve foster youth ages 12-17 who need a highly structured therapeutic setting but do not meet the criteria for psychiatric hospitalization. Through individualized assessment, stabilization, and treatment, the program will help youth strengthen coping skills, improve emotional and behavioral regulation, and safely transition to a lower level of care. As part of San Luis Obispo County's children's continuum of care, the E-STRTP will help bridge an important service gap between hospitalization and home- or community-based care.
