Job description

Burned out on 30+ client weeks at an agency? Tired of running every aspect of a solo practice alone? Refuge Counseling & Wellness exists for therapists like you. A place where you can do deep, meaningful clinical work, get paid well for it, and actually have a life.

We're a trauma-focused group practice in Vancouver, WA built around one idea: that great therapists do their best work when they feel supported, not stretched thin. Our team specializes in trauma modalities that go beyond surface-level symptom management: EMDR, Brainspotting, IFS, somatic work, and more. If you nerd out about the neuroscience of trauma and want colleagues who do too, you'll fit right in here.

Our Vision

Transforming trauma by helping people rest, recover, and live renewed.

Our Core Values
Location: Vancouver, WA. Conveniently located in Salmon Creek at the I-5/I-205 intersection. Free parking.
Schedule: 15+ hours
  • Maintain a minimum of 15 client hours each week
  • Maintain a minimum of 25 client hours each week/100 per month to qualify for full time
Pay:
  • $55–$65 per clinical hour to start, plus hourly admin pay for documentation and administrative tasks
  • Part-time (15+ client hours/week): $45K–$60K+ annually
  • Full-time (25+ client hours/week): $85K–$100K+ annually for a fully licensed, trauma-trained clinician
  • Room to grow beyond that as you build your caseload and specializations
We also offer
  • W2 employment, not a contractor arrangement
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits (full-time)
  • Flexible PTO and paid sick days
  • 401K with 3.5% employer match
  • Paid late cancellations and no-shows
  • Employer-paid CEUs and license renewal
  • Hybrid schedule option (in-person and telehealth)
  • Beautiful, fully furnished office in Salmon Creek with large windows, free parking, and a studio space for somatic work and groups
  • Zero marketing, billing, or admin burden. We handle it so you can focus on clients
  • Peer consultation and ongoing training in a collaborative, non-competitive team environment
  • MacBook laptop
What We’re Looking For:

License: Active Washington state mental health license: LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT. Associates with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience may apply.

Clinical approach: You practice from a trauma-informed, evidence-based framework and have experience or genuine curiosity in modalities that create lasting change rather than surface-level symptom management. Training in EMDR, Brainspotting, or ART is required, or you're willing to get trained.

Modalities: Our team brings expertise across a wide range, including Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, attachment-focused and psychodynamic therapy, ERP, couples work, group therapy, and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. We'd love to add your specialties to the mix.

Professionalism: You complete thorough session documentation within 24 hours, hold yourself to a high ethical standard, and bring maturity and self-awareness to your work.

Team orientation: You thrive in a collaborative environment, communicate openly, and genuinely enjoy supporting colleagues as much as clients.

Tech comfort: Comfortable using or learning Jane App and Google Suite. Able to deliver telehealth competently when needed.

What You’ll Do:
  • Provide exceptional individual and/or couples therapy to adults, helping them navigate trauma and achieve lasting change
  • Build and maintain your caseload with full support from the Refuge team. Referrals, marketing, and online presence are handled for you
  • Collaborate with teammates through peer consultation and shared learning
  • Grow your clinical skillset through employer-sponsored training, including specialty modalities like Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, therapy intensives, and specialty groups
  • You don't want the burnout of an agency or the business burden of solo practice. You want the best of both
  • You get energy from working alongside smart, curious, fun colleagues
  • You want your initiative recognized and room to grow your income
  • You get excited about deep trauma work, not just weekly check-ins
  • You're drawn to specialty frameworks like KAP, intensives, somatic work, and retreats, and want a practice that supports them
Refuge Won’t be a Fit For You If…
  • You're looking for a short-term stepping stone rather than a clinical home you can grow into
  • You primarily want to work with children, young teens, or families
  • Your clinical approach is short-term, solutions-focused, or primarily CBT
