Job summary

Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia with 5+ years in commercial construction engineering to lead full engineering duties for modular manufacturing and support the mechanical, industrial, and design teams.

The role may involve field work and collaboration with the VDC department for modeling. The ideal candidate will design HVAC and piping systems, develop drawings and specs, and coordinate with project stakeholders while guiding junior engineers

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia or clearly eligible
• Minimum 5 years of commercial construction engineering experience
• Experience with HVAC, piping, and mechanical systems design
• Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks and AutoCAD
• Ability to perform load calculations and energy analyses
• Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, IBC, NFPA publications
• MS Excel and Bluebeam proficiency
• Valid driver license and clean driving record

Responsibilities

• Work without supervision with latitude for independent action and decision making.
• Communicate mechanical system selections including codes and sustainable design.
• Develop construction drawing packages and write construction specifications.
• Model facility aspects using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Navisworks.
• Design and lay out mechanical equipment rooms; perform load calculations.
• Research and evaluate design proposals for feasibility and cost.
• Support designs, specs, narratives, and layouts for projects.
• Review proposals and recommend improvements for changes.
• Assist Project Manager with backup materials for changes or information requests.
• Mentor junior personnel and conduct field surveys as needed.
• Collaborate with leadership to grow the mechanical practice.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
