Job summary

U.S. Facilities, Inc. is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to support projects in West Point and Matthews, VA. You will plan repairs, additions, and preventive maintenance on equipment for movable bridges, while leading the maintenance staff and organizing work orders.

Job description

US Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service company, is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to work on one of our projects in the West Point, VA and Matthews, VA area. This position will be responsible for planning electrical and mechanical systems repairs, additions, modifications, and preventive maintenance on all associated equipment to the movable bridges. Provides leadership to the maintenance staff and ensures all necessary work is accomplished by planning, scheduling, and organizing work orders.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities
  • Leads, guides, and/or trains other electricians or maintenance personnel in applicable procedures and techniques.
  • Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical and mechanical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
  • Repairs install, replace, and test electrical and mechanical equipment using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
  • Plans electrical secondary system additions or modifications.
  • May perform work of lower-level electricians or maintenance mechanics
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Reads employs and updates electrical and mechanical panel schedules.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned to include mechanical and electrical duties

May be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth above to address business needs and changing business practices.

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of secondary electrical systems include planning additions or modifications on secondary circuits.
  • Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test 1000 volt and below electrical circuits, equipment and appliances.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers for secondary systems 1000 volt and below.
  • Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.
  • Ability to read commercial electrical blueprints and apply NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction work.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to install and maintain motors, welding equipment, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers as appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in secondary (1000 volts) circuits and systems including cutouts, switchgear, and transformers; b) Isolating faults in 1000 voltage distribution system and replacing cable runs; c) Operating all 1000 voltage controls and switchgear including repairing and replacing those; d) Leading, guiding and/or training other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.
Education/Training
  • High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that is above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Licenses, Certifications, Requirements
  • CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 6 months of the date of hire.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • The successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination, and medical history check.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Electrical Journeyman's License
Working Conditions
  • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling required objects up to 50 pounds.
  • The work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.

Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises

Compensation
  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician through state of VA. (DPOR) *Negotiable if they can obtain in 90 days
  • Live within an hour of both Eltham (West Point, VA) & Gwynns Island Bridges.
  • Industrial Motor Control Knowledge is a huge plus.
  • Salary $28.00 - $33.00 /hour
  • Sign on bonus of $1500 with half paid after 90-day probationary period and remaining half paid one month after 90-day probation.
  • We provide vehicle, for emergency calls
  • Full-time 40 hours a week + Vacation time + sick time + 10 holidays

The selected candidate will receive a $1,500 sign on bonus after successfully completing 3 months of employment.
