As a member of the Berkshire Hathaway group of insurance companies, we offer outstanding opportunities for professionals interested in working with a successful company. We offer unparalleled financial strength, stability and "large company" benefits, in addition to an exciting, friendly, "small company" atmosphere.

The Insurance Agent plays an important role in helping customers find commercial auto insurance solutions that meet their needs. This position combines customer service, sales, and underwriting by working directly with prospective and existing policyholders to evaluate risks, explain coverage options, provide quotes, and guide customers through the process of purchasing and maintaining their insurance coverage.

This position will be with Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies in Omaha, Nebraska and is not eligible for Employer Visa Sponsorship.

  • Evaluate risks, determine appropriate classifications and coverage structures, and develop pricing in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authority.
  • Prepare insurance quotes, explain available coverage and pricing options, address customer questions and concerns, and guide customers through the policy binding process.
  • Use company systems, third-party data, and underwriting resources to gather information, assess risk, and support accurate pricing decisions.
  • Explain commercial insurance coverages, policy terms, conditions, endorsements, billing options, and payment processes in clear, customer-friendly language.
  • Help customers complete electronic payments and establish recurring EFT or credit card payment arrangements when requested.
  • Partner with underwriting and other business teams to address endorsement requests, pricing questions, and situations requiring additional review or approval.
  • Identify and elevate billing, customer service, underwriting, or other issues that fall outside established authority or may have broader business impact.
  • Participate in underwriting quality reviews to support compliance with company guidelines, business processes, and applicable regulations.
  • Support testing of rating, quoting, policy administration, and other business systems by completing assigned test cases and identifying potential issues.
  • Participate in business development and marketing activities, including communicating product information, answering questions from prospective customers or referral sources, and supporting industry events as needed.
  • Demonstrate and promote a collaborative, customer-focused team environment while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
What Are We Looking For?

  • Natural empathy, patience, and professionalism when working through customer questions or concerns.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accurate documentation and sound decision-making.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with underwriting, billing, customer service, and other business partners.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment when handling customer and business information.
Someone Willing To:
