Job summary

Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. is seeking a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) to support Ostiguy High School students in recovery.

The part-time position integrates mental health and substance use treatment within the academic environment to promote sobriety, wellbeing, and educational success. The role is 15–20 hours per week, ends June 17, 2027, and is based in Dorchester, MA.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) required.
• Current Massachusetts LICSW licensure required.
• Experience with adolescents and/or substance use/co-occurring disorders.
• Knowledge of recovery models (12-step, harm reduction, SMART Recovery, etc.).
• Strong crisis intervention and risk assessment skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments and develop individualized recovery/treatment plans.
• Provide individual counseling and facilitate recovery-focused group sessions.
• Monitor students for relapse risk and respond to crises as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and recovery coaches on student support plans.
• Coordinate with outside providers (therapists, psychiatrists, treatment programs, families).
• Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.

BACKGROUND

Since 2006, ABCD, Inc. has operated the William J. Ostiguy High School(“Ostiguy High School”), a recovery high school that operates within the alternative educational high school framework. Ostiguy High School provides a safe and supportive school environment for youth who have made a commitment to pursue sobriety while also working to earn a high school diploma. Ostiguy High School offers the academic and clinical support to earn a high school diploma and pursue a postsecondary education at a community college, four-year university, or vocational school.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker(“LICSW”) provides individual and group clinical support to students in recovery from substance use disorders within a recovery high school setting. This part-time role integrates mental health and substance use treatment with the academic environment, supporting students' sobriety, emotional wellbeing, and educational success. This is a part-time role with a fixed term. his role will work 15-20 hours/week and is slated to end on June 17, 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments and develop individualized recovery/treatment plans
• Provide individual counseling and facilitate recovery-focused group sessions
• Monitor students for relapse risk and respond to crises as needed
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and recovery coaches on student support plans
• Coordinate with outside providers (therapists, psychiatrists, treatment programs, families)
• Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
• (HIPAA/FERPA)
• Support development and facilitation of school recovery programming (e.g., peer support meetings)
• Participate in staff meetings and case consultations.

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise

• Master's degree in Social Work (MSW).
• Current Massachusetts LICSW licensure.
• Experience with adolescents and/or substance use/co-occurring disorders.
• Knowledge of recovery models (12-step, harm reduction, SMART Recovery, etc.).
• Strong crisis intervention and risk assessment skills.

Preferred but not required

• Experience in a school-based or alternative education setting
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices
• Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply
