Qualifications

• Active New York State Home Inspector license (required).
• Prior home inspection experience preferred; building backgrounds considered.
• Knowledge of residential construction and common defect patterns.
• Strong written and verbal communication; explain technical issues clearly.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Hudson Valley region.
• Detail-oriented and committed to unbiased reporting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive residential home inspections per NY standards and InterNACHI/ASHI best practices.
• Evaluate structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and interior/exterior systems.
• Identify and document safety concerns, defects, and maintenance issues.
• Use thermal imaging cameras and other diagnostic tools to support findings.
• Produce detailed inspection reports within 24 hours of inspection.
• Communicate findings to clients in person or by phone.
• Maintain relationships with real estate agents, homeowners, and referral partners.
• Stay up to date with NY licensing requirements, continuing education, and industry standards.
• Represent the Hudson Valley Home Inspections name professionally on every job.
