Dugan Funeral Home, Inc. is seeking a Licensed Funeral Director with valid state licensure after internship completion.

As a Funeral Director at Vertin, you will lead families through planning and coordination of meaningful services that honor and celebrate each life lived, while upholding our standards of quality and compassionate care. This role combines professional expertise with genuine care, ensuring every interaction reflects our ethical and professional standards and supports growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher in Mortuary Science from an accredited program.
• Successful completion of the National Board Examination.
• Successful completion of Internship.
• Successful completion of the applicable State Board Examination after internship completion.
• Valid Funeral Director and/or Embalmer State Licensure after internship completion.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and care for the deceased in a respectful manner that adheres to regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation for compliance and operational excellence related to funeral services, cremations, and maintenance.
• Perform preparation tasks for the deceased including removal and transfer, embalming, cosmetology, hairstyling, dressing, and casketing across metro locations.
• Support trade work for deaths in surrounding area locations within our network.
• Assist families with insurance assignments, paperwork and other related follow-up tasks.
• Share potential preneed referrals with the preplanning specialist.
• Manage merchandise inventory and funeral home supplies.
• Engage with the community through local organizations and events.
• Utilize local and digital marketing methods for promotion and education.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Supervise and care for the deceased in a respectful manner that adheres to regulatory requirements.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation to ensure compliance and operational excellence related to funeral services, cremations, and maintenance.
• Perform a variety of tasks related to preparation of the deceased: removal and transfer, embalming, cosmetology, hairstyling, dressing, and casketing for our metro locations.
• Support trade work for deaths that occur in the surrounding area locations within our network.
• Perform office duties and reporting.
• Provide timely delivery of documents, cards, memorabilia, etc. to the family following the service.
• Perform duties as assigned at all satellite/branch locations under the primary location’s oversight, which may be added, changed, or reassigned as business needs evolve.
• Assist the family with insurance assignments, paperwork and other related follow-up tasks as needed.
• Share potential preneed referrals with the preplanning specialist.
• Manage merchandise inventory and funeral home supplies.
• Build a strong relationship with the community through active involvement in area organizations and participation in charitable events.
• Utilize engaging local and digital marketing methods for promotion and education purposes.
• Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
• Assist with maintenance of the facility, property, and vehicles.
• Ensure adherence to all professional, state and federal licensing authority, regulations, and rules applicable to funeral service.
• Maintain a good driving record in order to drive funeral vehicles for services, floral delivery, supply pick-up, participation in special functions, and various other duties.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Degree from Accredited Mortuary Science Program plus additional college credits as required in the applicable state you are working in
• Successful completion of the National Board Examination
• Successful completion of Internship
• Successful completion of the applicable State Board Examination after internship completion
• Valid Funeral Director and/or Embalmer State Licensure after internship completion
