Job Title: Subject Matter Expert II - Fire Protection Engineer

Job Type: Full-Time | Contract

Overview

Seeking a licensed Fire Protection Engineer (SME II) to lead fire safety evaluations, inspections, and design reviews for educational facilities. This role involves ensuring compliance with federal safety codes and providing expert consultation on fire protection systems and life safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as technical expert on fire protection systems and safety codes.
• Conduct inspections of fire alarms, sprinklers, exhaust systems, and extinguishers.
• Review construction documents for compliance with fire safety standards.
• Provide guidance on materials, methods, and code compliance.
• Perform final inspections and recommend contract modifications.
• Investigate serious accidents and provide written analysis and safety recommendations.
• Support development of BIE fire protection guidelines and training programs.
• Train school personnel on Deferred Maintenance Work Orders (DMWOs) in Maximo.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
• 6+ years of experience in fire protection engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge of National Fire Codes, OSHA, and federal safety standards.
• Proficiency in CADD, project tracking, and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
