Job summary

The Boring Company seeks a licensed Fire Life Safety Engineer to own the design and stamping of fire protection and life safety systems for Loop tunnel projects in Las Vegas and Nashville. You will develop code-compliant fire designs for underground transit, stamp engineering drawings, and ensure systems meet NFPA, AHJ, and project standards as we scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field is required.
• Active PE license with ability to stamp fire protection drawings (Nevada/Tennessee preferred).
• Minimum 5 years designing fire protection and life safety systems for tunnels or large facilities.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 502, 72, 13/14 and related codes for underground transit.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of fire detection, alarm, suppression, standpipe, and emergency comms for tunnels and stations.
• Stamp and seal fire protection drawings as a licensed Professional Engineer.
• Ensure designs meet NFPA and AHJ requirements and project standards.
• Coordinate with internal teams to integrate life safety into tunnel design packages.
• Interface with AHJs and reviewers during design and permitting processes.
• Develop design standards, specifications, and calculation methodologies for tunnel systems.
• Support system commissioning, performance verification, and field issue resolution.
• Assess FM risk factors including EV battery hazards and apply performance-based design.
• Improve design efficiency, reliability, and constructability as projects scale.
