Job summary

Thompson-Safety is seeking a dependable Fire Extinguisher/Kitchen Suppression System Technician in Saint Louis, MO. The role covers installation, inspection, and repair of fire extinguishers and suppression systems, with state license requirements.

You will perform annual and semi-annual inspections, document findings, and communicate issues to customers while collaborating with teams to ensure safe, compliant operations. A valid license and safety-first mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; certifications preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude with hand/power tools.
• Ability to read electrical schematic diagrams.
• Experience as a Fire Technician preferred.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards (10, 13, 17, 17a, 25, 72, 96).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform Annual maintenance/inspections of fire extinguishers.
• Determine proper type, quantity, and placement of extinguishers.
• Exchange extinguishers requiring service; replace obsolete/damaged units.
• Install extinguisher cabinets, brackets, and wall hangers.
• Indicate type, size, and location on inspection reports.
• Perform Semi-Annual and Annual inspections of fire suppression systems.
• Document findings and note deficiencies on inspection reports.
• Communicate non-compliance issues to customers.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, and team members to repair/maintain systems.
• Provide technical support and guidance on systems operation, maintenance, troubleshooting.
• Build partnerships to grow business.
• Adhere to safety guidelines; perform duties safely.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
