Job summary

State Fire is seeking an experienced, licensed Fire Alarm Technician to join our growing team in the Houston, TX region. You will install, inspect, service, and maintain diverse fire alarm systems, with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of fire alarm or low-voltage experience.
  • Hold current FAL license.
  • NICET Level I or higher.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must hold or obtain required state licensure within 90 days.
  • Proficiency with standard and trade-specific tools and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, service, and maintain fire alarm systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair systems including emergency or warranty calls.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and testing per NFPA and local standards.
  • Coordinate work with project managers, property managers, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow safety/compliance protocols.
  • Occasionally travel to other regions based on project needs.

Requirements


  • 4+ years of experience in fire alarm or low-voltage systems preferred

  • Hold current FAL license

  • NICET Level I or higher certification preferred.

  • Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system layouts.

  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Must hold or be able to obtain any required state licensure within 90 days.

  • Proficiency with standard and trade-specific tools and testing equipment.



Physical Requirements


  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.

  • Comfortable working at heights on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.

  • Safely lift and carry up to 70 pounds.

  • Work effectively in both indoor and outdoor environments.
