REPORTS TO: School Principal
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the general supervision of the School Principal, develop students' skills and competence in teaching English to emerging bilingual students.
- Plan, organize, and provide instruction that is aligned with District outcomes.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the content, central concepts, tools of inquiry, and appropriate evidence-based instructional practices of the disciplines being taught.
- Promote student development in the areas of literacy and mathematics.
- Make instruction and content relevant to students and connect students' background and contextual knowledge with new information being taught.
- Integrate and utilize technology in instruction to maximize student learning.
- Differentiated instruction to ensure that all students are progressing; proactively plan intervention strategies as necessary.
- Provide opportunities for students to complete high‑quality projects that challenge them to pursue a passion, demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving, put forth effort and engage in authentic (real‑world) learning.
- Other related primary duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND LICENSING GUIDELINES
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Active Colorado teacher license, authorization, or the ability to obtain
- Endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education, or the ability to obtain
- This position requires completion of the READ Act Training
- Official transcripts must be provided upon hire
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with middle school students, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience teaching English language learners (ELLs) in a secondary school setting.
- A deep understanding of second language acquisition theories and the most effective methods for teaching English to middle school students.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of ELL students, providing tailored support that promotes language growth at various proficiency levels.
- A strong collaborator, able to work effectively with general education teachers and support staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment that addresses the academic, linguistic, and social needs of English learners.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Standing and walking for extended periods; bending, stooping, and lifting materials; reaching for supplies on high shelves; using manual dexterity for tasks such as writing and using technology; communicating clearly and effectively with students; climbing stairs in multi‑level buildings.
CLEARANCE
Must clear an online background check and an FBI Fingerprint check through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
SALARY
Placement on the Licensed Teacher salary schedule based upon previous teaching experience, highest degree, and college credits earned after student teaching was completed. Salary will be determined by hours scheduled to work each day and years scheduled to work each year, and will be paid in equal monthly installments.

Employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible to obtain district health benefits, which include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance and supplemental benefits. Positions that qualify for health benefits also qualify for leave, which may include vacation and daily leave. Sheridan School District No. 2 participates in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by statute to contribute 11% of their salary on a pre‑tax basis to PERA; the District also contributes an additional 21.4%.
