Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician license

Job description

This is a leadership role in a specialized setting: you'll lead the electrical work behind residential heat pump installations — wiring equipment, running circuits, and completing panel and service upgrades — while mentoring apprentices and setting the standard for quality on every job.

You'll work as a job lead, guiding apprentices through the electrical scope of each install, troubleshooting more complex issues, and ensuring every job meets Forge's quality bar from start to finish.

Pay Range: $35–$50/hr, based on related experience, ability to mentor apprentices, ability to lead jobs independently, and quality of work.

Logistics
  • Service area: Metrowest and Eastern Massachusetts — you'll travel to job sites across this area daily.
  • Schedule: Consistent, full-time work, year-round, Monday–Friday — no on-call or after-hours rotation. We're proud to offer a stable, reliable schedule you can build a life around.
  • Tools & vehicle: You won't get a company van on day one — you need to show us you can crush the work first (about 2 weeks). Prove you can do the work you're signing up to do, and the van, tools, and the freedom that goes with it are yours.
What You Will Do
  • Lead the installation, wiring, and upgrade of electrical components and systems supporting heat pump installations
  • Wire a variety of heating and cooling equipment: condensers, air handlers, minisplit heads, branch boxes, heat kits, thermostats, and integrated controls
  • Perform and oversee panel and service upgrades
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and mechanical faults
  • Read and interpret electrical layouts, schematics, and equipment submittals
  • Review specifications, consult technical documentation, and work with tech support to resolve product issues
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, OSHA regulations, and safety protocols across the job site
  • Mentor and train apprentices on-site, teaching technique, code compliance, and troubleshooting
  • Take ownership of job quality, timeline, and communication with project coordinators and operations managers
Qualifications & Preferred Experience
  • Active Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician license required
  • Substantial hands‑on experience in electrical work specific to heat pump systems — installation, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a job site and mentor less experienced electricians/apprentices
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical layouts, schematics, and equipment specifications
  • Comfortable with focused, repetitive electrical work specific to heat pump systems
  • Full‑time availability, Monday–Friday
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Able to pass a background check and drug test (does not screen for marijuana)
  • Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; comfortable working in attics, basements, and crawlspaces; able to climb ladders and work in varying seasonal/outdoor conditions.
Who You Are
  • You work hard, efficiently, and produce quality work — quality comes first, pace is a close second
  • You know what good service looks and feels like to our customers, and you're extremely professional with homeowners
  • You lead by example — you don't need your hand held, and you can't wait to teach the next person coming up behind you
  • You can juggle a lot at once without dropping balls, but you know when to raise your hand and loop in the team
  • You stay calm when things go sideways and jump in to help fix it, even when it's not your fault — no drama
  • You take initiative, ask good questions, and keep sharpening your craft — even as a Journeyman
Why Choose Forge
  • Career Growth: A leadership role with real influence over job quality and the development of the next generation of Forge electricians.
  • Competitive Compensation: We care more about your quality of work and work ethic than years of experience — pay reflects the value you bring to every job.
  • Employee Benefits: Health and dental insurance, a strong 401(k) match, 11 paid company holidays, personal paid time off, and more.
