Responsibilities

1. Possession of an Electrical Contractor License is required.
2. The Licensed Electrician, Plant Engineer III, performs duties related to building maintenance and electrical system renovations, including medium voltage electrical distribution, motor control systems, VFDs, generators, automatic transfer switches, all within healthcare, research, or business facilities.
3. Responsibilities include installation, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of equipment such as Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Motor Control Centers (MCCs), high and medium voltage switching gear, emergency electrical distribution gear (ATSs), generators, transformers, fire pumps, lighting control systems, and electrical mechanical equipment.
4. Must be able to bend pipe, pull wire, work with metal-clad wire systems, and read prints, wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, and schematic drawings. A working knowledge of NFPA NEC 70 is required.
5. Maintain accurate logs of all equipment and ensure a safe working environment. Maintain the building and related systems. Certification or licensing in a trade related to healthcare engineering (e.g., Steam boiler, HVAC) is required.

Qualifications

1. Five (5) years of experience in an acute healthcare setting is preferred.
2. Ability to troubleshoot, read schematics, and interpret blueprints.
3. Valid state driver’s license.
4. Certified and/or licensed in a trade relevant to healthcare engineering (e.g., Steam boiler, HVAC).
5. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
