LICENSED BLASTER

This role involves performing blasting activities in line with the job program to meet production goals. The position supports the directions of the Blasting Supervisor and Project Superintendent, reporting results and status for input and guidance.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned blasting activities.
• Work as a job site blaster under the supervision of the Blasting Supervisor and/or Project Superintendent.
• Contribute input on blast-related activities to assist in planning.
• Identify and resolve blast site problems with supervision as needed.
• Ensure pre-blast inspections are completed prior to blasting.
• Conduct pre-blast tests and set up seismographs as required.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Request supplies and materials through the supervisor or project manager.
• Monitor blast pattern and type of excavation, reporting findings.
• Document explosive use and complete inventory paperwork.
• Transport explosives across state lines when necessary.
• Complete field accounting reports and trip manifests as required.
• Participate in company meetings and safety briefings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of experience with drills and explosives.
• Completion of Blaster I training; Blaster II training required.
• Valid Blasting Certificate where applicable.
• Good communication skills.
• Valid CDL with hazmat endorsement and company driver qualification, with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel out of town/state.
• Successful passing of a criminal background check with ATF.
• Thorough understanding of blasting techniques, including blast design, loading, detonator operation, and blast site security.
• Proficiency in drill operations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform essential functions.
• Lift up to 50 lbs., approximately 30-40% of the time.
• Work on uneven, loose surfaces in various weather conditions.
• Stooping and bending 30-40% of the time.
