Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Specialist delivers comprehensive behavioral health services, including assessments, individualized treatment plans, and therapy (individual, group, family). This role manages a diverse caseload, ensures timely documentation and administrative tasks related to client care, program support, and compliance with regulatory standards. This position contributes to program development and quality improvement initiatives while maintaining professional relationships with colleagues and community partners.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Clinical Duties:
- Conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments to understand clients' mental health, needs, strengths, and treatment goals, informing effective intervention strategies.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans/therapy sessions in collaboration with clients to promote their well-being and recovery.
- Deliver therapeutic services, including individual, group, and family therapy, applying evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, and EMDR.
- Monitor client progress regularly and adapt treatment plans to ensure effectiveness.
- Complete clinical documentation accurately and promptly, adhering to ethical and legal standards.
- Manage a diverse caseload with clinical judgment and organizational skills.
- Provide crisis intervention services, utilizing de-escalation techniques and safety planning.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists and healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care, including medication management.
Administrative Duties:
- Respond professionally and promptly to client inquiries via phone, email, and portal.
- Maintain organized client files, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.
- Use data management systems for monitoring progress and reporting.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation for agency, insurance, and grants.
- Participate in staff meetings and organizational planning.
- Maintain productivity expectations and accurate billing records.
- Assist with assessment scheduling, data entry, and preliminary information gathering.
Professional Collaboration:
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute clinical insights.
- Coordinate client care with external providers and community resources.
- Serve as a resource for colleagues on complex cases.
- Engage in clinical supervision and peer consultation.
- Build and maintain relationships with referral sources and community partners.
Program Development:
- Contribute to development and enhancement of therapeutic programs.
- Support program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay informed on evidence-based practices and emerging treatments.
- Identify service gaps and recommend solutions.
Policy and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation and assist with audits.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Clinical Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
- Current state licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or equivalent.
- Understanding of behavioral health safety requirements.
- Proficiency in assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning, including DSM-5.
- Knowledge of local community resources.
Skills and Experience:
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with electronic health records and computer systems.
- Minimum of one year in healthcare administration (if relevant), and two years clinical experience post-licensure.
- Training in Trauma-Informed Care and experience in crisis intervention.
- Active certification in evidence-based modalities like CBT, DBT, or EMDR.
Compensation & Benefits:
$68,000 - $75,000 annually, contract to hire. Hybrid schedule (3 days in-office). Private health insurance options and paid time off.
