Job Title: Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician

Reports to: Family Services Manager

Position Type: Full-time

Job Summary

The Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician provides direct therapeutic services to individuals and families who have experienced trauma, homelessness, or other forms of victimization. This position delivers trauma-informed, culturally responsive care that may include individual therapy, group counseling, and substance use support. The Clinician collaborates closely with case managers, housing staff, and partner agencies to support client stability and long-term recovery.

Family Promise of Hawaiʻi (FPH) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to transform the lives of families with children in Hawaiʻi facing homelessness by providing housing, resources, and support. Founded in 2005, FPH operates emergency shelters to give families a safe place to sleep, study, and get back on their feet; provides individualized case management and rental assistance to help families navigate and overcome their challenges; and organizes community-based opportunities to help families build skills and social capital. Each year, FPH serves hundreds of families on Oʻahu and Maui.

Essential Job Functions

Direct Clinical Services (60%)

Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions to clients with a history of victimization, including domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, or human trafficking.

Conduct clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions.

Offer substance use screening and counseling as appropriate.

Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with legal, ethical, and funding requirements.

Care Coordination & Supportive Services (20%)

Collaborate with case managers, housing navigators, and other service providers to ensure integrated care.

Participate in case conferencing and multidisciplinary team meetings to support housing stability and recovery goals.

Provide clinical guidance to staff working with clients experiencing complex trauma.

Program Compliance & Reporting (10%)

Ensure all clinical activities comply with applicable standards and grant requirements.

Assist with documentation for grant reporting, including client progress and outcomes.

Maintain licensure and participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices.

Training & Community Engagement (10%)

Provide internal training for staff on trauma-informed care, behavioral health, and crisis intervention.

Build and maintain referral relationships with behavioral health, victim services, and homeless service agencies.

Represent the organization at relevant community coalitions and stakeholder meetings.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field.

Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in the State of Hawaiʻi, or equivalent license that meets jurisdictional standards for providing mental health counseling.

Minimum of 2 years of experience providing therapy to individuals with trauma histories, including survivors of violence or abuse.

Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approaches.

Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and in a nonprofit setting.

Strong documentation and organizational skills; familiarity with HIPAA and confidentiality laws.

Adaptability to changing priorities and dynamic work environments.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications and experience creating and maintaining databases.

Passion for the mission and vision of Family Promise of Hawaiʻi.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

Experience working with families experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

Certification or training in evidence-based practices such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Familiarity with federal grant requirements and documentation practices.

Bilingual or multilingual skills, especially in languages commonly spoken in Hawaiʻi.

Knowledge of local behavioral health resources and victim service networks.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this full-time position is $70,000 – $90,000.
