Job summary

Northern Pines Mental Health Center in Brainerd, MN is seeking a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor to join our Substance Use Disorder Services team. You will provide co-occurring substance abuse counseling, including screening, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and case management to clients and families.

As part of a collaborative treatment team, you will diagnose and support clients, maintain records per SUDS policies, and engage with referral sources.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted LADC license in MN.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification from the American Heart Association or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• At least one year of direct service to individuals with substance use problems or one year in administration/management of direct service to individuals with substance use problems.
• Bachelor’s degree or three years of supervision/administration in human services.
• Education or experience in co-occurring disorders.
• Travel is a requirement of this position; ability to operate a motor vehicle along with a valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Follow and support the SUDS philosophy, policies, procedures, and job responsibilities.

• Diagnose substance abuse disorders.
• Meet with families to identify needs for services and to make appropriate referrals.
• Maintain records according to the SUDS policies and procedures along with co-occurring regulations.
• Work as an active and effective treatment team member.
• May assist in the training of paraprofessionals in performance of clinical duties.
