Job summary

New Season is hiring a Substance Abuse Counselor in Minnesota to join our collaborative treatment team and help patients through individual, group, and family counseling. You will work with a Medical Director, Program Director, and nurses to assess clinical needs and support overall well‑being in the local community.

Starting pay is $32 per hour with full benefits on day one, 3+ weeks of PTO accrual from day one, tuition reimbursement opportunities, and an employee referral bonus program.

Qualifications

• Active MN LADC or LPC licensure or eligibility as per Minnesota requirements.
• Experience in the substance abuse field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with intakes, admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Document patient progress through counseling and groups.
• Develop psychosocial assessments and individualized treatment plans.
• Identify clinical needs and coordinate care with the treatment team.
• Provide individual, group, and family counseling as required.
• Conduct at least 20 hours of direct patient contact weekly.
• Educate patients on treatment and recovery steps.
• Review urine drug screens and verify patient identity.

As a Substance Abuse Counselor you’ll engage with your patients with individual, group, and/or family counseling. You’ll work with a collaborative treatment team consisting of our Medical Director, Program Director, Treatment Services Coordinator, Counselors and Nurses to identify and meet the clinical needs of the patient and to assist in their overall well-being.

Essential Functions

• Work with patients to complete intakes, admissions, discharges, and transfer paperwork.
• Document patient progress through counseling and interaction through groups.
• Complete patient psychosocial and an individualized treatment plan within the required time frame.
• Identify any clinical/case management needs and work to address those needs.
• Perform individual, group, and family counseling as required.
• Perform at least 20 hours of direct one-on-one patient contact per week through individual and/or group counseling sessions.
• Educate patients in all aspects of treatment, corresponding health issues and steps to recovery.
• Reviews Urine Drug Screens and initial patient photo identification.
• Always act in the best interests of the program and company; honors, supports, and protects the proprietary data and rights of the company.

Essential Qualifications

Education/Licensure/Certification: Qualified candidates must have an active MN LADC or LPC from the state of Minnesota.

Experience Required: Experience in the substance abuse field is preferred, but not required.
