Job summary

StandardAero in New London, NC, is seeking an Aircraft Engine Mechanic to maintain, repair and overhaul turbine engines, modules, and accessories. You will perform troubleshooting with precision, following FAA regulations and OEM manuals to ensure airworthiness and compliance.

The role requires 1–5+ years in gas turbine maintenance, an FAA A&P license or timeline to obtain it, and willingness to travel up to 25% for customer support. Strong reading of technical manuals is essential.

Qualifications

• 1–5+ years of experience in gas turbine engine maintenance and repair.
• FAA A&P license required or to be acquired within 1 year.
• Experience maintaining aircraft engines and turbine components.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.

What You’ll Do:

As an Aircraft Engine Mechanic, you’ll maintain, repair, and overhaul aircraft engines, modules, components, and accessories to assure compliance with established company standards, contractual obligations, and airworthiness regulatory requirements. Performs technical troubleshooting using mechanical ability and extensive product knowledge. Cross-train in other complementary skills as needed to support production requirements.

Follow all required standards in the performance of assigned work displaying appropriate competencies in accordance with FAA Regulations, OEM manuals, and related materials. Incumbent is required to meet all training requirements set out in a separate, but specific Training Matrices chart for each job. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Conduct necessary troubleshooting and/or repair (either on or off wing) on turbine engines.
• Disassembly and assembly of various models of turbine engines according to sequence utilizing aircraft tools, balance machines, surface grinders, drill presses, and other equipment for repair and/or overhaul.
• Receive engine parts to conduct inspections using precision measuring tools in order to detect physical defects such as cracks, burns, foreign object damages, proper screws, and structure deviations.
• Evaluate engine parts to determine which parts are repairable or unrepairable; refer to micrometers and other precision-measuring instruments to determine further routing to other destinations or to scrap parts.
• Inspect aircraft engine parts to determine and/or perform NDT requirements.
• Utilize applicable database system in order to retrieve information regarding parts inventory, manufacturing models, serial numbers, and/or other pertinent information to ensure proper documentation.
• Refer to technical publications, specification sheets, and/or other regulatory requirements to ensure that all tasks have been completed in proper sequence and required signed-off.
• Customer contact and travel (up to 25% of the time) may be required.
• General facility cleaning and maintenance.

Position Requirements:

• 1 - 5 years or more experience in gas turbine engine/components maintenance and repair.
• FAA Airframe and Power Plant license required or must be acquired within 1 year of job award.
• Previous engine maintenance experience in the aerospace field on turbine engines.
• Computer literacy skills are required.
• Must be able to read, interpret, and understand technical manuals, work specifications, and written work instructions, ability to read micrometers and other precision‑measuring instruments.
• Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally with peers, clients, and the public.
• Ability to get along with co‑workers and peers.
• Maintenance of regular attendance and punctuality with customary tolerance.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• High School diploma or GED.

Preferred Characteristics:

• Engine maintenance experience on Pratt and Whitney preferred.
