Job summary

Avenues Recovery Center in Metairie, LA is hiring a full-time Addiction Counselor for our Outpatient Program. You will conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups to address each client's challenges and needs, while helping clients develop coping skills and recovery tools.

Work closely with clinical staff to track client progress, escalate concerns to the Clinical Director, and maintain comprehensive documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Substance abuse experience required.

Now hiring a full-time Addiction Counselor for our Outpatient Program located in Metairie, LA!

What You’ll Do

• Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups designed to meet each client's challenges and needs
• Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools
• Collaborate consistently with clinical staff to keep track of client challenges and progress
• Escalate any significant client concerns to Clinical Director
• Maintain thorough documentation of all group sessions conducted
• Ensure all clinical assessments and individual client charting is completed

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
• Valid state licensure / certification necessary to practice in this role, i.e. LPC, LCSW or CIT
• Substance abuse experience required
• Excellent observational, collaborative and interpersonal skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Compassionate, dignified character which models recovery principles
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality
