Job summary

Avenues Recovery Center seeks a full-time Addiction Counselor for its Outpatient Program in Metairie, LA. You will conduct group therapy, provide psychoeducation, and support clients with coping skills and recovery tools.

You will collaborate with clinicians, document sessions, and escalate concerns when needed. A Bachelor's in psychology or related field is required; state licensure is necessary, with a Master’s preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
Valid state licensure/certification to practice (e.g., LPC, LCSW or CIT).
Substance abuse experience required.
Excellent observational, collaborative and interpersonal skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Compassionate, dignified character modelling recovery principles.
Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups.
Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills and recovery tools.
Collaborate with clinical staff to monitor client progress.
Escalate significant concerns to Clinical Director.
Maintain thorough documentation of group sessions.

Now hiring a full-time Addiction Counselor for our Outpatient Program located in Metairie, LA!

What You'll Do

Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups designed to meet each client's challenges and needs
Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools
Collaborate consistently with clinical staff to keep track of client challenges and progress
Escalate any significant client concerns to Clinical Director
Maintain thorough documentation of all group sessions conducted
Ensure all clinical assessments and individual client charting is completed

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
Valid state licensure / certification necessary to practice in this role, i.e. LPC, LCSW or CIT
