Role Description
C3 Wellness Spa | Raleigh Stanhope is seeking a compassionate, highly skilled Licensed Acupuncturist to join our multidisciplinary wellness team.
This full-time, on-site position is responsible for providing acupuncture and related integrative treatments while developing individualized care plans that support pain management, stress reduction, recovery, mobility, and overall wellness.
The Licensed Acupuncturist will conduct comprehensive client consultations, assess client needs, administer acupuncture and appropriate adjunct therapies, maintain accurate treatment documentation, and collaborate with other wellness professionals to provide coordinated, integrated care.
C3 Wellness Spa works with commercial insurance plans, credentialing networks, and referral‑based clients, so the ideal candidate should be comfortable working within both a wellness and clinical environment. This includes familiarity with SOAP notes, insurance documentation, referral‑based care, medical necessity, treatment planning, and maintaining documentation that supports credentialing and reimbursement requirements.
The Licensed Acupuncturist will also educate clients on treatment options, self‑care strategies, and wellness practices while maintaining the highest standards of safety, sanitation, professionalism, and client experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform acupuncture treatments in accordance with state licensure requirements, professional standards, and C3 Wellness Spa protocols.
- Conduct thorough initial consultations and ongoing client assessments.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on client goals, symptoms, medical history, and clinical presentation.
- Provide acupuncture for concerns such as pain management, stress reduction, musculoskeletal conditions, recovery, and general wellness.
- Incorporate appropriate adjunct therapies, which may include:
- Cupping
- Moxibustion
- Electro‑acupuncture
- Ear seeding
- Herbal medicine
- Other complementary modalities within the practitioner’s scope of practice
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records.
- Complete comprehensive SOAP notes and other required clinical documentation for all applicable clients.
- Maintain documentation necessary for insurance billing, credentialing, referrals, and continuity of care.
- Understand and follow requirements related to referred and insurance‑based clients, including documentation of treatment plans, progress, and medical necessity when applicable.
- Collaborate with physical therapists, massage therapists, medical providers, estheticians, and other members of the C3 Wellness team to support integrated client care.
- Communicate appropriately with referring providers and other healthcare professionals when necessary and authorized.
- Educate clients regarding acupuncture, treatment expectations, wellness practices, home‑care recommendations, and complementary therapies.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, documentation standards, sanitation protocols, infection‑control requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Ensure treatment rooms are properly prepared, sanitized, stocked, and maintained according to C3 Wellness Spa standards.
- Participate in team meetings, training, continuing education, and departmental development.
- Support client retention by providing an exceptional, professional, and personalized experience.
- Participate in community outreach, educational events, marketing initiatives, and wellness programming when appropriate.
- Assist in building and growing the acupuncture service line within C3 Wellness Spa.
- Work collaboratively with leadership to evaluate client outcomes, service utilization, scheduling needs, and opportunities for departmental growth.
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted North Carolina license to practice acupuncture.
- Completion of an accredited acupuncture or Oriental/East Asian Medicine program.
- Strong understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine principles and their practical application.
- Demonstrated proficiency in acupuncture assessment, treatment planning, and safe treatment delivery.
- Knowledge of Oriental/East Asian Medicine with the ability to integrate traditional approaches with evidence‑informed client care.
- Experience with SOAP notes and clinical documentation.
- Familiarity with documentation expectations associated with insurance credentialing, insurance‑based clients, referrals, and reimbursement.
- Ability to maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records.
- Strong understanding of client confidentiality, HIPAA, and professional documentation standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an empathetic, client‑centered approach.
- Ability to communicate treatment recommendations clearly and professionally.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications
- NCCAOM certification.
- Previous experience in a clinical, integrative medicine, private practice, medical spa, or wellness center environment.
- Prior experience treating insurance‑based or referral clients.
- Experience working with credentialed insurance networks.
- Familiarity with insurance documentation requirements and medical necessity standards.
- Experience with complementary therapies such as:
- Cupping
- Moxibustion
- Herbal medicine
- Electro‑acupuncture
- Ear seeding
- Knowledge of herbal medicine, including appropriate use, contraindications, and potential interactions.
- Familiarity with Mindbody software or similar practice‑management platforms.
- CPR/BLS certification.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment alongside physical therapy, massage therapy, medical providers, or other allied health professionals.
