Job summary

Occidental College is seeking a part-time User Services Coordinator to support the Library’s Information Desk and Critical Making Studio. You will assist students, faculty, and staff with circulation, technology, and makerspace equipment while helping with space maintenance and safety.

The role runs 9:45 a.m.–4:15 p.m. on weekends, with additional shifts as needed. A strong customer service background and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in a customer service role, preferably in a library or public-facing setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive/Forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to justice, equity, inclusion & diversity.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver customer service at the Library Information Desk, including circulation duties, holds, and troubleshooting.
• Support the Critical Making Studio with equipment guidance and safety adherence, including 3D printers and other makerspace tools.
• Monitor building safety, perform opening/closing duties, and report maintenance or security concerns.
