City of San Diego seeks a Library Technician to perform copy cataloging, data entry, and maintenance of bibliographic and item records in a fast-paced municipal library system.
The role involves training staff in cataloging procedures and may include evenings or weekends based on staffing needs; bilingual skills may be valued. Applicants should meet formal education and experience requirements and be able to work at a computer workstation for long periods.

Library Technician positions perform copy cataloging of library materials applying basic international, national, and local cataloging principles and practices; search, select, edit, and enter information into bibliographic and item records; perform database maintenance activities, including adding item level holding information, updating and correcting item records, and performing item transfers and changes; cross-check the work of other Cataloging Section staff members; and train staff in cataloging procedures; and perform other duties as assigned.
