Job summary

York County Library in Rock Hill, SC, seeks a Technical Services Manager to supervise and direct the activities of the Technical Services department.

This hands-on leadership role guides cataloging, classification, acquisitions, and maintenance of the library collection, while managing a staff of six and overseeing inventory and the department budget.

The position requires MLS/MLIS, 3–5 years of supervisory library experience, a valid driver’s license, and professional librarian certification.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS degree required.
• 3–5 years in library services in a supervisory capacity.
• Experience with cataloging, SIRSI or similar ILS, and acquisitions.
• Problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Valid state driver’s license and Professional Public Librarian Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, plan, and direct the activities of the Technical Services department.
• Lead a hands-on, frontline managerial role that both leads and models exceptional customer service and works as part of the management team.
• Direct proper acquisition, cataloging, classification and maintenance of the library collection.
• Guide a staff of six, include collection maintenance, special projects, and annual inventory.
• Manage the department budget and participate as a contributing member of YCL’s management team.
• Perform other duties to support effective library services and operations.
