Job summary

Cochise County in Bisbee is seeking a Systems Librarian to oversee the countywide online library system and the wide‑area network, ensuring reliable access for seven city libraries and five branches.

Under general supervision, you will coordinate with the system vendor, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, implement upgrades, and develop web services; a MLS or related master’s degree plus three years’ experience is required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library Science or related field from an ALA-accredited program; three years in integrated library systems.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license and county insurance eligibility.
• Pre-employment background screening required for Cochise County positions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee countywide online library system for seven city libraries and five branches.
• Primary contact for system vendor and telecom agencies on hardware/software issues.
• Troubleshoot telecommunications network and hardware problems; arrange efficient solutions.
• Maintain system logs, backups, and install patches and upgrades.
• Run technical reports for databases; support system security and user accounts.
• Maintain and develop library district website, web catalog, and online databases.
• Liaise with State Library and vendors for databases and services.
• Manage PC hardware/software installation and staff/public support; filter public PCs.
• Maintain Wi‑Fi at branch locations and CCLD holdings in OCLC WorldShare ILL.
• Participate in planning and implementation of library goals and objectives.
