Library Specialist, Davies Library, Full-time
Inspire discovery. Support community at Davies Library.
Are you excited to create a welcoming library experience where families, neighbors, youth, and teens learn, connect, and thrive? Davies Library is seeking a full-time Library Specialist to become a trusted resource and familiar face in the Deer Trail community. You will help visitors of all ages access resources, technology, and programs while building meaningful relationships, fostering independence, and supporting the unique needs of a rural community.
Davies Library serves as a vital hub for Deer Trail and the surrounding rural communities, operating as both a public library and the Deer Trail School District library. Despite its small footprint, the library has a significant community impact, welcoming a robust after-school crowd and patrons of all ages. In this role, you will build relationships, provide services, and support programs for youth, teens, adults, and older adults while helping meet the unique needs of a rural community where the library serves as an important gathering place, resource center, and connection point. You will collaborate with staff, volunteers, local partners, and the school district to provide services and experiences that reflect the community's evolving needs. Because Davies is a small branch, team members often wear multiple hats, take initiative during quieter moments, and adapt to changing community needs while maintaining a high level of service.
Customer Service Mindset: You create a welcoming, positive experience for patrons of all ages, with experience working with youth and teens
Relationship Builder: You enjoy getting to know patrons, earning trust, and building meaningful connections in a close-knit rural community
Tech Savvy: You are comfortable with troubleshooting technology and learning new systems alongside patrons. You empower individuals to confidently access information and services
Initiative: You take ownership of your work, identify opportunities to help, and contribute to branch success during both busy and quieter moments
Team Collaboration: You have strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a small team environment while supporting community needs
Flexibility: You are comfortable adapting to changing priorities, community needs, and the variety that comes with working in a small library environment
Communication and Professionalism: You communicate clearly, maintain appropriate boundaries, and create positive interactions with patrons, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners
Community Mindset: You meet people where they are, understand diverse needs, and support patrons in discovering solutions and building confidence
Equity Focused Perspective: You demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and embracing diverse perspectives
Alignment to ALD Core Values: You value collaboration, equity, and innovation in every interaction
This is a full-time role that includes a combination of daytime and evening hours. The general schedule is 8:30AM to 5:00PM with one 10:30AM to 7:00PM closing shift each week. The role requires working every other Saturday. Schedules are provided in advance to support planning, flexibility, and excellent service for the community.
At Arapahoe Libraries, we are a forward thinking, inclusive organization committed to enriching lives and strengthening our community. Guided by our core values of collaboration, equity, and innovation, we believe in the power of curiosity and lifelong learning. Our motto, "Let's Find Out," reflects our spirit of exploration and shared discovery.
This is more than a job. It is your chance to help Davies Library continue to be a safe, engaging space where families, neighbors, youth, and teens connect and thrive. If you are passionate about serving rural communities, enjoy getting to know patrons by name, thrive in a small-team environment, and believe in helping people discover solutions for themselves, we would love to hear from you.
Inclusion and diversity are part of our values at Arapahoe Libraries.
Qualified applicants who can support the communities we serve are encouraged to apply.
The Community
Established in 1966, the Arapahoe Library District serves more than 200,000 residents living in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado. The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, including mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.
