City of Allen's Public Library is seeking staff for the public service desk to greet customers, answer questions, and help users locate books and reference materials.
This role supports library operations, opens and closes the facility, and interfaces with City employees. A Bachelor's degree with no prior experience is required, and other combinations may be considered; evening and weekend availability is expected.
HIRING RATE: $19.7167 Hourly
FULL HIRING RANGE: $19.7167 - $24.1537 Hourly

Staffs a public service desk, answering questions and taking requests from users, helping users find materials, and making recommendations for either adult's or children's books, authors, and reference materials. Position provides support by monitoring library use and orderliness, and in opening and closing the facility. This position will provide administrative support and will interface with other City employees and the public. This position does not provide direction to other employees.

This position will be required to work some evenings and weekends.
Schedule may be changed depending on department needs.
Overall Physical Strength Demands
Sedentary - Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.
Advanced - Ability to read literature, books, reviews, scientific or technical journals, abstracts, financial reports, and/or legal documents. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in at the college level or above. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Intermediate - Ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Advanced - Ability to write editorials, journals, speeches, manuals, or critiques. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in at the college level or above. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
