Job summary

The City of Duluth is seeking a Library Manager to lead its three-location public library system and supervise a team of over 50 staff. The Manager will work with the Library Board and community groups to advance innovative services and ensure a safe, welcoming environment.

A Master’s in Library Science and five years of library experience with supervisory responsibility are required. The role involves strategic planning, budgeting, policy development, and acting as a liaison to the Duluth

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Minimum five years of library experience including supervisory/management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, supervise and evaluate library operations at the main and branch libraries.
• Establish short- and long-range goals and objectives within budgetary constraints.
• Develop and monitor division budget.
• Maintain awareness of changing trends and technology in public library operations to improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Supervise the development, organization, and coordination of work plans by Library Supervisors.
• Review and evaluate service levels and community needs to develop programs and projects.
• Represent the library at professional, governmental, and community events and meetings.
• Provide training, coaching, and mentoring for employees.
• Coordinate with City divisions and boards on capital and operational needs.
